Ever wanted to compete for your favorite football club using a controller instead of cleats? Aspiring esports players from throughout the UK were given the opportunity to do just that when the ePL launched - a FIFA 19 tournament, owned by the Premier League, where pros competed over months of online qualifiers, offline playoffs and a grand final in London in March 2019.
This was an opportunity to tell the story of the very highest level of traditional sports connecting with esports fans directly - and bringing the prestige and clout of decades to the virtual pitch. The challenge: to tell stories of a different breed of a hometown hero to mainstream sports and esports fans alike.
